Cyril M. Theccanat is President and Chief Investment Officer of Smith Graham & Company. He has over 21 years of experience in the investment management business. At Smith Graham, Cyril is directly responsible for the management and oversight of the investment teams that manage nearly $6 billion in global fixed income and equity portfolios for institutional clients. Prior to joining Smith Graham, Cyril was a Managing Director and Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager for over 13 years with U.S. Trust Company in New York. He was directly responsible for managing $2.4 billion in the Institutional Fixed Income Division. Prior to U.S. Trust, Cyril was a Vice President at Drexel Burnham Lambert where he was responsible for foreign exchange risk and interest rate risk management. Earlier in his career, Cyril was a senior consultant for 6 years with Chase Econometrics where he developed a variety of econometric-based models including multivariate regression and time-series models for clients in the financial, technology, utility and consumer goods industries.
Cyril is a speaker on investment management topics at national conferences such as the National Association of State Treasurers annual conference and IMN’s Annual Fixed Income Summit. He has also written articles for publications such as Pensions&Investments.
Cyril received his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Cyril also serves as a pension board member for the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority’s (METRO) Retirement Plan.

William Charcalis is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager. He has extensive experience in developing and managing small and mid cap value equity portfolios. At Smith Graham, he leads the Equity Investment team. With over 25 years experience in the investment industry, William was most recently a Senior Portfolio Manager at Ark Asset Management Co., Inc. Prior to his tenure at Ark, William was a senior analyst and portfolio manager for the IBM Retirement Funds.
William has a BS from the University of Southern California.

Stephen Marciano is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager. He has approximately 20 years experience in equity portfolio management and research. At Smith Graham, he is part of the equity portfolio management team and helps to manage the small cap and midcap value portfolios. Stephen comes to Smith Graham from Ark Asset Management Co., Inc. where he was a senior manager and research analyst.
Stephen received his BS from New York University.

Scott Covino is an Assistant Vice President and Analyst. At Smith Graham, he is an analyst on the small cap and midcap value equity team. With 13 years in the investment industry, Scott was most recently a research analyst on the Small Cap and Midcap Value equity team at Ark Asset Management Co., Inc. He began his career as an investment advisor at OLDE Financial Corp.
Scott holds a BS from Ithaca College and MBA from Fordham University Graduate School of Business. Additionally, he has completed Level II of the CFA Program.

Robert Brescia is an Assistant Vice President and equity trader. At Smith Graham, Robert is part of the small cap and midcap value equity team. He has over 10 years experience in the investment industry and joins Smith Graham from Ark Asset Management Co., Inc. where he was an equity trader.
Robert received his BA from Pace University and AS from Westchester Community College.

Helen Chu is a Vice President and Senior Programmer/Systems Analyst. She has over 22 years in the software engineering and developing. At Smith Graham, she works closely with the equity and fixed incomes team utilizing her programming and systems analyst expertise. Prior to joining Smith Graham, she was most recently a senior software developer at Ark Asset Management Co., Inc. Before that, Helen was a software developer at Lehman Management Co., Inc. She began her career at Singer Kearfott Guidance & Navigation System.
Helen received her BS in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University.
